Lawful Interception in NFV and SDN

Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networks (SDN) are two new buzzwords which are currently stirring up the networking community. These new technologies are increasingly replacing proprietary hardware with software-controlled systems.

What started in enterprise networks and data centers is now gradually being implemented in telecom operator networks with the objectives to reduce equipment and operational costs, power consumption and time-to-market for new services and functionality. NFV can be seen as a response to cloud-service providers who have been offering competitive communications services implemented in software on standard off-the-shelf servers.

The Utimaco FAQ paper offers help in understanding the main technical concepts of NFV and SDN and their impact on LI and DR.
